Many people ask me frequently about the possibility of using USB flash drive to install there own OS, especially those who have a laptop without a CD/DVD-ROM drive,Not all people want to buy a portable drive ,and using USB flash drive to install the operating system is a good choice for them.

Well, the following is the steps for create a bootable USB Flash Drive including all Windows source files, and installing on HP mini 1000 Laptop,(as example)

Requirements:

1- a USB Flash Drive with at least 1GB of storage

2 – deasktop pc – or notbook with CD/DVD-ROM drive, if we have no one you can use any virtual cd/dvd software like daemon or something else,

3- Windows XP Setup CD orDVD,(or iso file),

4- you need to download WinSetupFromUSB

the steps:

1 install WinSetupFromUSB. Default installation path is C:\WinSetupFromUSB.

2- Connect the USB Flash Drive to your PC and start WinSetupFromUSB.

3-Click on Browse under Windows 2000/XP/2003 Source and navigate to the folder with your Windows XP Source Files CD or DVD,(or iso file mounted using daemon)

4- Make sure your flash drive is selected, and click start to format your flash drive. د

In the main window of WinSetupFromUSB click PeToUSB under Format target using to start the program. The USB Flash Drive should show up under Destination Drive. Check USB Removable, Enable Disk Format and Quick Format. Uncheck Enable File Copy under File Copy Options

If everything goes well, the message “Operation Completed Successfully!” should appear. Click OK and close PeToUSB.

Copy Windows XP Source Files

To start the process of copying the Windows XP source files to the USB Flash Drive, click GO in the main window of WinSetupFromUSB. Depending on the write speed of your USB Flash drive it may take a while to copy all files.

Windows Installation

After booting from USB Flash Drive, the following menu should be displayed:

Windows XP/2000/2003 Setup – First part.

Windows XP/2000/2003 Setup – second part.

for first booting choose first part ,so you go to format your hard and copying necessary files ,
after first reboot , boot again from flash and choose the second part
and go on ,
that is all

The benefits of installing from USB are plentiful and, providing you take the time to follow the instructions above, you need never worry about scratching your Windows XP CD again. I hope that the time I spent writing this guide will help you all to decrease the amount of time you spend having to install Windows XP when you have to.

Note: you can try this steps to install Windows 7 or vista too

Regards

NetBIOS Hacking is the art of hacking into someone else’s computer through your computer. NetBIOS stands for “Network Basic Input Output System.” It is a way for a LAN or WAN to share folders, files, drives, and printers.
How can this be of use to me?

Most people don’t even know, but when they’re on a LAN or WAN they could possibly have their entire hard drive shared and not even know. So if we can find a way into the network, their computer is at our disposal.
What do I need?

Windows OS Cain and Abel (http://www.oxid.it/)
Step 1, Finding the target.

So first off all we need to find a computer or the computer to hack into. So if your plugged in to the LAN, or connected to the WAN, you can begin. Open up Cain and Abel. This program has a built in sniffer feature. A sniffer looks for all IP addresses in the local subnet. Once you have opened up the program click on the sniffer tab, click the Start/Stop sniffer, and then click the blue cross. Another window will pop up, make sure “All host in my subnet” is selected, and then click ok. It should begin to scan.

Then IP’s, computer names, and mac addresses will show up.

Now remember the IP address of the computer you are going to be breaking into.

If you can’t tell whether the IP address is a computer, router, modem, etc, that’s ok.

During the next step we will begin our trial and error.

Part 2, Trial and Error

Now, we don’t know if we have our designated target, or if we have a computer or printer, or whatever else is on the LAN or WAN.

If you did get the IP of the target though, I still recommend reading through this section, for it could be helpful later on.

Click on the start menu and go to run, type in cmd, and click ok.

This should bring up the command prompt.

From here we will do most of the hacking.

Now I will be referring to certain commands that need to be inputted into the command prompt.

I will put these commands in quotes, but do not put the quotes in the code when you type it into the prompt.

I am only doing this to avoid confusion.

Let’s get back to the hacking.

Type in “ping (IP address of the target).” For example in this tutorial, “ping 192.168.1.103.”

This will tell us if the target is online.

We have our just found our share name. In this case, under the share name is “C,” meaning that the only shared thing on the computer is C. Then to the right, under Type, it says “Disk.” This means that it is the actual C DISK of the computer. The C DISK can sometimes be an entire person’s hard drive.

All’s that is left to do is “map” the shared drive onto our computer. This means that we will make a drive on our computer, and all the contents of the targets computer can be accessed through our created network drive. Type in “net use K: \\(IP Address of Target)\(Shared Drive). For my example in this tutorial, “net use K: \\192.168.1.103\C.” Ok, let’s say that you plan on doing this again to a different person, do u see the “K after “net use?” This is the letter of the drive that you are making on your computer. It can be any letter you wish, as long as the same letter is not in use by your computer. So it could be “net use G…,” for a different target.

NetBIOS Hacking

As you can see, for my hack I have already used “K,” so I used “G” instead.

You may also do the same for multiple hacks.

If it worked, it will say “The command completed successfully.”

If not, you will have to go retrace you steps.

Now open up “my computer” under the start menu, and your newly created network drive should be there.

NETBIOS hacking

Now, if you disconnect from the WAN or LAN, you will not be able to access this drive, hence the name Network Drive.

The drive will not be deleted after you disconnect though, but you won’t be able to access it until you reconnect to the network.

So if you are doing this for the content of the drive, I recommend dragging the files and folders inside of the drive onto your computer,

because you never know if the target changes the sharing setting.

If you are just doing this to hack something, then go explore it and have some well deserved fun!

Congratulation you are done!
Commands used in this tutorial:

PING

NBTSTAT -a (IP Address of Target)

NET VIEW \\(IP Address of Target)

NET USE K: \\(IP Address of Target)\(SHARENAME)

Default null session attack.(same process using just cmd)
A null session attack basicly uses what is called a samba share to get access to the victims share, {ipc$, admin$, etc.}
This is only for windows xp/vista. Well this is a very simple but effective method of “rooting” a box.
Open CMD > Net View

[Shows all hosts on the network]

> nbtstat -a HOST

[determines if the workgroup is open, if not try another comp]

> net view HOST

[shows open shares being used; ipc$ doesn't automatically show. But if C is open simply type net use \\HOST \c$; then you have root!]

>net use \\HOST \SHARE /u:USER_NAME

[ok so you can ushly use the share IPC$, and the user of admin]
Now go to your local network and open your victims folders
To close the connection type: net use \\HOST /delete

If it worked, it will look something like this (note, I have colored out private information)

Recently, Gene over at ERACC WEblog Makes an effort to define the ‘free’ in “Free & Open Source Software”.

His main points boil down to :

This is a fact in that one is not required to fork over hard earned money for any FOSS. But there is some cost associated with FOSS and that is the cost of learning to use it. While this is not a monetary cost, it is a cost if one considers one’s time to be of value. We will call this a time cost.

So, other than FOSS being gratis where is the freedom for that person? The freedom for the end-user is freedom from restrictions.

Here is what I mean by freedom from restrictions for the end-user. One may share one’s copy of FOSS with one’s neighbors, friends, family, enemies and pets without ever breaking a law.

While these points do represent a portion of the ‘free’ in FOSS, this don’t go quite far enough to spell it out for more than just individual users.

The freedom from restriction also applies to how many instances of software can be installed from one original copy. For example, in Windows EULA and many others, if you purchase one cd with software on it, their license allows you to install that to only one machine. that is all that is ‘legal’

This is HUGE when it comes to schools, non-profits and small businesses who can’t afford to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to have more than one copy of software running.

Whereas with FOSS, you can take that one CD and install it to one or ten or one hundred separate machines. Or, install it to a server that runs distributed desktops ( LTSP, thin clients) and have more than one user have access to the software simultaneously.

Also, there is the freedom which also mentioned earlier that is specific to being free to modify the software to meet one’s unique needs, without incurring extra cost or violating EULA terms.

While many small businesses, schools and non-profits cannot afford the fee of thousands of dollars that Microsoft or Apple charges to have modifications made to the system, They might be able to find a volunteer who is willing to modify Linux or some other OpenSource software on their behalf. And because the source code is open and the freedom exists to modify as they see fit without cost or legal restriction, they have an opportunity to customize FOSS software they will not find anywhere else.

The Linux community is in the midst of the big home user desktop push and a lot of developers and proponents are working to see that happen, yet Linux and Open Source software is able to make huge gains and make a huge difference in non home use settings.

BEL Project is one of those volunteer groups that is willing to work with schools and non profits as well as small business to get access to customized installations of Linux and other Open Source software to meet their unique working environments. There are others out there, in local communities, doing the same thing.

The ‘Free’ in FOSS not only provides the freedom discussed above, but also it provides individuals the freedom to learn and expand their experience, education and opportunity to help others to be successful using Free and Open Source Software.

First of all, this also works if you are using Gaim.
Have you ever been to a place(school, work etc.) where you were unable to use your IM software because of some administrator that blocked it. Well, I have, and I have also found a way around it. I am using Pidgin as my IM program, which supports many different IM protocols.

Here is how you do it:

install tor

Whenever you create a new account in pidgin, go to the “Advanced” tab.

Under “Proxy Options” and “Proxy type”, you choose “SOCKS 5″.

* In the “Host” field type in “127.0.0.1″, and set the “Port” to “9050″.

This should work with most of the IM protocols, although I haven’t tested all of them. The login time will probably also be a while longer than normal, but just be patient

Open your home folder in the file browser, and select View->Show Hidden Files. If you can’t find the .fonts folder, create it.

You can copy any TTF font file into this folder and it will become available immediately to applications after they are restarted. You can get TTF fonts from the Internet, or even a Windows system.

Installing Microsoft Truetype fonts on Ubuntu

You can install the MS core fonts by installing the msttcorefonts package. To do this, enable the “Universe” component of the repositories. This is done by default in Feisty. After you do that, use the following command from the command line:

$sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts
